Beauty brand CoverGirl has launched its first skincare line, Clean Fresh Skincare, a 100% vegan line.For the first time in 60 years, the brand has moved beyond color cosmetics into a new beauty category.The new Clean Fresh skincare line debuts with five products: Hydrating Cleanser, Priming Glow Mist, Weightless Water Cream, Mattifying Oil Free Moisturizer and Dry Skin Corrector Cream.

In 2018, CoverGirl became the largest makeup brand to become Leaping Bunny certified Cruelty Free International, which means all of its products are certified cruelty-free wherever they are sold.Cruelty Free International certifies cosmetic, personal care and cleaning brands under its Leaping Bunny program, a globally recognized guarantee that brands have committed to ending animal testing of their products.To be certified, CoverGirl must meet stringent standards, such as implementing a supplier monitoring system and conducting independent audits of its supply chain and ingredient manufacturers.And, it’s worth noting that CoverGirl, a Leaping Bunny certified brand, isn’t sold in China either.

Although CoverGirl is now animal cruelty-free, many of its products are not vegan because they may contain animal-derived ingredients like beeswax and carmine.However, shortly after committing to cruelty-free, CoverGirl launched its first vegan makeup line, also known as Clean Fresh.Available at retailers nationwide, the collection includes four animal-free products: Skin Milk Foundation (a coconut milk-based formula with a dewy finish in 14 shades); Cream Blush (rich Plumping Cheek Color with Hydrating Hyaluronic Acid); Cooling Glow Stick, a shimmering highlighter in four shades; and Tinted Lip Oil, a liquid lip gloss exclusive to CVS.In addition to being animal-free, these products do not contain phthalates, mineral oil, formaldehyde, talc, parabens, or sulfates.
Last year, CoverGirl launched a vegan version of its popular Lash Blast mascara.CoverGirl’s first vegan mascara contains argan and marula oils and is available in four shades: Dark Brown, Black, Ultra Black and Jet Black.
