Roll-Kraft recently hosted its own profile forming training workshop for Clark Dietrich Building Systems, one of the main suppliers of studs and rails to the drywall industry.
Operations Trainer and Program Manager Frank Gomez, along with COO Mike Collins and ClarkDietrich Director of Corporate Technical Services Jimmy Rickett and Roll-Kraft Vice President of Pipe Engineering Robert A. Sladky, coordinated a training event that included participants from several of their enterprises throughout the country. Brought to their factory in Warren, Ohio.
Robert Sladky and Dave Rostokil, Roll-Kraft’s Director of Product Applications, spoke with co-speakers at the event about the important aspects of mill integrity, alignment, tuning and troubleshooting in ClarkDietrich’s roll profile applications.
Participants’ experience levels ranged from beginners to veterans with over 20 years of experience.
“The reason this program has been so successful is because ClarkDietrich has recruited key executives from many of its departments into the program,” Sweet said. “Many times only the operator is there to guide. Management, supervisors and leaders are critical to the success of any internal workshop. Everything that was learned in the workshop was put into practice. Another key factor was that “they took their time” to receive this training. Many times, factories are too busy to provide training, maintain the plant, or improve standard operating procedures (SOPs). The right approach is: “You can’t afford not to waste time.”
Each of the workshop participants received a step-by-step guide to the PowerPoint presentation. In-house workshop presentations include videos of steps and procedures and are supported by live scrolling demonstrations of actual production parts. This allows the instructor to illustrate the consequences of incorrect adjustments that can cause the roll forming machine to produce problematic parts. In addition, Roll-Kraft will host an annual training workshop at its Mentor headquarters in Ohio. The Tube Show will take place on August 19th and the Rolling Show on August 20th.
